Oakdale Elementary School Library
My name is Robin Hendricks, and I am proud to serve as the School Librarian. Our library is the central hub of Oakdale Elementary, providing students with meaningful opportunities to explore, read, and learn in an engaging and supportive environment.
Students across all grade levels participate in weekly library lessons designed to foster a love of reading, strengthen information literacy, and support academic success. In addition to scheduled class visits, the library offers an open and flexible circulation schedule, allowing students to check out books, conduct research, and pursue their individual interests throughout the week.
The library is open daily from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., ensuring that every student has ample access to books and digital resources. We are proud to share that the Oakdale Elementary School Library earned Exemplary Library Status in 2019, reflecting our ongoing commitment to excellence in literacy and learning.
Mission of the Oakdale Elementary Library
The mission of the Oakdale Elementary School Library is to engage students in active learning, prepare them to be life-long learners, and to help them develop the necessary skills that are needed to become information-literate and to navigate the 21st Century.
Vision of the Oakdale Elementary Library
The Oakdale Elementary School Library envisions a joyful, student-centered environment where reading opens doors to new worlds and learning never ends. It is a place where imagination takes flight, ideas are shared, and knowledge is celebrated. We aim to cultivate a community of readers and thinkers who value respect, curiosity, and kindness. By connecting students with stories, technology, and one another, our library helps every child grow into a lifelong learner who reads for pleasure, learns with purpose, and leads with heart.
“If you want to have a life that is worth living, a life that expresses your deepest feelings and emotions and cares and dreams, you have to read.”
- Alice Walker
